The Porch Party collection was handcut from vintage K&B Beer cans. Long before big chains took over local drugstores, K&B was a New Orleans neighborhood institution. The first store opened at 732 Canal Street, founded by pharmacists Gustave Katz and Sydney Besthoff. A chance deal on salvaged purple wrapping paper sparked the brand’s iconic color—soon seen on signs, storefronts, and employee uniforms, where purple came to symbolize quality. K&B was famous for its soda fountains, beloved ice cream, and distinctive house brands like YENDIS liquor (Sidney spelled backward) and BEER. Though the stores shuttered their doors in 1997, K&B remains a deeply rooted part of New Orleans memory.
